How to tell if your follow ups are working

"Send 7-8 follow ups" they say. How do you know if this is even working?

Here’s what I do, and the science behind if your follow ups are effective:

If your outreach looks like this:
🍌 Outreach 1 - 20% response rate
🍌 Outreach 2 - 22% response rate
🍌 Outreach 3 - 22.5% response rate
🍌 Outreach 4 - 23% response rate
🍌 Outreach 5 - 23% response rate

^^ This is not effective. 🙈 This is in fact, BANANAS. The cumulative response rate (total response rate/total number of outreaches sent so far) is not increasing in any meaningful way. AKA you’re just sending SPAM.

Here’s what successful follow ups should look like:
🌟 Outreach 1 - 20% response rate
🌟 Outreach 2 - 28% response rate <<-- 8% increase between outreach 1 and 2
🌟 Outreach 3 - 32% response rate <<---- 4% increase between outreach 2 and 3
🌟 Outreach 4 - 40% response rate <<---- 2% increase between outreach 3 and 4
🌟 Outreach 5 - 40.1% response rate <<---- interest flattens out here
